Case studies from clinical dietetics offer useful perspectives on the application of nutrition science in clinical settings. By analyzing real-life patient case studies, clinicians and dietitians will develop a clearer understanding of the nuances of the individualized stages associated with patient care (from identifying nutritional deficiencies to developing individualized diets around chronic diseases). Case studies demonstrate not only the importance of clinical thinking and interdisciplinary collaboration, but the importance of practicing care based on the best available evidence to enhance patient outcomes. This session will evoke a number of clinical case studies to demonstrate how dietetic intervention impacts disease management through case studies around diabetes, chronic kidney disease, malnutrition, and gastrointestinal disease, highlighting dietitian contributions in modern healthcare systems.
