Lifestyle medicine is the practice of using diet, exercise, sleep, stress and behavior change principles as methods to prevent and manage chronic diseases. Nutrition is a key component of lifestyle medicine, as a healthy lifestyle and disease prevention begins with nutrition. Evidence-based dietary changes can help reduce risk factors for cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, and certain cancers. This session examines how nutrition integrated with lifestyle medicine can impact health and build sustainable health habits to allow individual decision-making about long-term health behavior changes. The session will present practical ways to combine nutrition and physical activity, sleep, stress and/or behavior change to enhance quality of life and create a healthier preventive state of wellbeing together.see less.
